Get concrete, constructive and actionable advice for strengthening your GCC conference proposal! 

In this hands-on, interactive webinar, participants will give and receive feedback on their proposal drafts for member-generated sessions. This immersive webinar workshop will consist of small group feedback sessions in breakout rooms (2-4 participants), in addition to a short opening instructional session and debrief. 

This is the second of the mini-series of events to support GCC members who are considering presenting member-generated sessions at the GCC conference, and members who plan to attend the first Conferencing Tips panel on January 26 might be particularly interested in this opportunity to get feedback on proposals.
 

To get the most out of this session and strengthen your proposal, you should plan to attend the first Conferencing Tips panel, or watch the recording of the panel which will be shared via email. You should also have access to a working rough draft of your GCC proposal. Since this webinar is “hands-on,” you should plan to be in a setting where you can use audio and screen share via Zoom on the day/time of the webinar.

Speaker:
Katie Homar (she/her), PhD, is the Director of Academic and Engineering Writing Support with North Carolina State University’s Graduate School, where she designs and delivers writing-oriented professional development programming for graduate & postdoc trainees across disciplines. Prior to joining the NC State’s Professional Development Team in 2018, Katie was a Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow in Georgia Institute of Technology’s Writing and Communication Program. With a PhD in English from the University of Pittsburgh, Katie has taught writing to college-level students for a decade and enjoys the opportunities to learn about research across disciplines and help trainees communicate the impact of their work to a variety of stakeholders. 

In GCC, she currently serves as a Co-Chair on the Professional Development Committee (PDC), coordinating project subcommittees that utilize data about career competencies to design webinars and resources on topics of interest to GCC members. As a newer GCC member, she presented with the PDC team for the first time about this work at the 2022 San Francisco conference.
