GETTING TO BERKELEY
Berkeley is located on the east side of the San Francisco Bay, and enjoys a mild climate, with cool mornings and evenings. The typical temperature in mid-February ranges from 45-60 degrees Fahrenheit. It is recommended you dress in layers.
By public transportation:
The regional subway system, BART (www.bart.gov), serves the greater Bay Area. Campus is accessible by BART from both the Oakland and San Francisco International Airports. To get to campus, take the Richmond train to the Downtown Berkeley BART station, exit at Shattuck Avenue and Center Street, walk east on Center Street, and then straight to campus.
By Train: Amtrak https://www.amtrak.com/home.html stops in Berkeley, and the regional bus system, AC Transit, has routes directly to campus.
By Air:
Oakland International Airport (OAK): https://www.oaklandairport.com/
OAK is closer to campus but served by fewer carriers.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO): https://www.flysfo.com/
SFO is further from campus but will provide the most flexibility in carriers and flight times.
Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC): https://www.flysanjose.com/
SJC is approximately 50 miles and a 1 hour drive from UC Berkeley, but may provide an option for you.
