The University of Virginia will be hosting a special symposium, Implementing the Future of Doctoral Education, on January 17, 2019. This one-day event will bring a number of national leaders to UVA for a day of dialogue on graduate education and ongoing efforts to open the aperture of career paths for PhD students in all fields. We invite you to UVA for a day of dialogue and discussion with national leaders in graduate education (including representatives from the Council of Graduate Schools and the National Academies) students, faculty, and staff on how new models to prepare graduate students for a broader diversity of futures can harmonize with traditional models of training and open the PhD more generously to society. Please plan to arrive a day early if you'd like to add the Implementing the Future of Doctoral Education Symposium to your travel for the GCC Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting. The symposium will take place at UVA on 1/17/19 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. with specific program details to be released soon.

See you in January!
