Event Description

Higher education is navigating a period of uncertainty. As graduate career professionals, adapting to these changing circumstances requires us to reflect on our strengths, goals, and long-term career aspirations.

Join the Professional Development Committee for an engaging, hands-on workshop where we will introduce the GCC’s Individual Development Plan (IDP) for Career Professionals—a workbook created by GCC members to guide your personal career planning process.

In this session, participants will engage in exercises designed to help you:

  1. Reflect on your strengths, areas for growth, passions, and core values
  2. Set short-term goals with clear, actionable steps while considering your long-term career vision
  3. Identify current and potential mentors to support your ongoing growth and development

After the workshop, participants will have time to reflect on their experience and discuss how to use the IDP tool, not only for their own professional development but also to support colleagues and mentees in their units and networks.

Speakers:

  • Brian Campbell, Associate Director, Graduate Career Community, Loyola University Chicago
  • Ioannis Vasileios Chremos, Program Manager for Professional Development, University of Michigan Medical School
  • Cynthia Fuhrmann, Associate Professor, UMass Chan Medical School and Principal Investigator, Professional Development Hub
  • Amber Ismael, Senior Program Manager, Office of Scientific Career Development, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
